Luke Strickland
Assistant Vice President, Florida State Director
Luke Strickland is an Assistant Vice President with Tidal Basin and serves as the Florida State Director. Luke previously served as the Chief of Staff at the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM), where he managed state-wide preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation activities. He coordinated activities with state and local entities, the federal government, and private organizations to ensure compliance with laws for efficient disaster response and recovery. He was responsible for communicating critical information to citizens, securing federal funding for recovery, managing a staff of 300, and implementing automated processes for improved efficiency and accuracy.
Luke’s experience extends to legislative leadership as the Deputy Staff Director for the Florida Senate Majority from 2015-2021. While in this role, he executed legislative plans and priorities set by the Senate President, and leadership and coordinated communication between the Senate President’s office and Republican Senators. He managed a team of policy analysts, prepared analyses on proposed legislation, handled messaging for Senate achievements, and provided support across various committees, including Environment, Agriculture, and Judiciary.
Before working for the Florida State Majority, Luke served as the Public Information Officer for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for a brief period in 2015. He acted as the department’s spokesperson, handling media inquiries and interviews on environmental issues. His responsibilities included developing public relations strategies, preparing written communications, coordinating messaging with technical staff, building relationships with reporters, pitching positive stories, and managing social media accounts.
Luke’s experience in campaign management encompasses executing legislative initiatives and facilitating communication among key political figures. He has successfully managed teams of policy analysts and supported numerous committees, demonstrating his ability to lead effectively. Additionally, Luke handled media relations and public communications on complex issues, showcasing his proficiency in managing public perception.
Luke holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Florida State University and is a lifelong Floridian.
