Carlos J. Castillo, Tidal Basin Group’s President of Federal Services, was selected to participate in the FEMA Vanguard Executive Crisis Leaders Fellowship, a program to enhance the nation’s crisis management capabilities. This invitation, extended by FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell, recognizes Castillo’s extensive experience and contributions to emergency and disaster management.
With over 40 years in the field, Castillo’s background is impressive. Before joining Tidal Basin Group, he served as FEMA’s Deputy Administrator for Resilience in addition to other key leadership roles with FEMA, the American Red Cross, and Miami-Dade County, FL. Throughout his career, he responded to numerous major disasters nationally and internationally, and helped establish the National Urban Search and Rescue Response System, making him a key asset in crisis situations.
The Vanguard Executive Crisis Leaders Fellowship is a joint effort by FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute, the RAND Corporation, and the McChrystal Group. It gathers seasoned leaders from various sectors, such as government, academia, and the private sector, to tackle emerging challenges in emergency management. The program encourages innovative thinking and collaboration through workshops, seminars, and site visits.
Carlos and other participants will engage in discussions and activities during the two-week program to foster leadership and critical thinking skills. This includes meeting with experts and peers to share insights and strategies for effective crisis management.
Join us in congratulating Carlos Castillo on being chosen for this distinguished opportunity. His dedication and expertise will surely make as significant of an impact on the Fellowship participants as it has in solving challenges for some of our nation’s most catastrophic disasters.
