We’re excited to introduce Peg Kemler, our new Deputy Director of Recovery. With 30 years of experience in emergency management and a rich history of leadership and management in mitigating risks and responding to disasters, Peg brings extensive expertise to the Tidal Basin team. She is a quintessential trailblazer, known for spearheading strategic initiatives to improve recovery efforts, assisting communities in their crucial time of need and developing and implementing tracking procedures for documenting costs.
Peg’s extensive project experience is a testament to her expertise in disaster recovery. She has played a pivotal role in performing closeouts of both large and small projects in collaboration with a FEMA Closeout Specialist, specifically focusing on the Federal Disaster Declarations stemming from the 2004 and 2005 hurricanes. Her adept coordination and scheduling of meetings between local government applicants and FEMA have ensured compliance with the requirements of the FEMA Public Assistance (P.A.) Program. Additionally, her commitment to empowering local governments is evidenced by the training she has provided to numerous applicants throughout the state, guiding them in the intricacies of completing proper documentation for FEMA reimbursement.
In this role, Peg will oversee the tactical aspects of recovery operations and foster a collaborative environment that draws on the diverse skills and perspectives of our team members. She is committed to evaluating and enhancing our existing frameworks to ensure that we remain adaptive and responsive to the ever-evolving challenges faced by communities after a disaster. By implementing best practices and integrating innovative recovery methodologies, Peg aims to elevate Tidal Basin’s reputation as a leading authority in disaster management.
Peg’s ability to engage stakeholders and rally resources will enhance our capacity to deliver timely and effective assistance to those impacted by disasters. She has notably worked in over 30 federal disasters. Peg expressed her enthusiasm about joining Tidal Basin, stating, «I am truly honored to become a part of such a dedicated and passionate team.
