Please join us in welcoming Efran Paredes Maisonet, MSEE, PE, to the Tidal Basin Caribe team! Efran is a Senior Director supporting the Community Development, Housing, and Infrastructure team. He will be serving as Project Manager of the Community Energy and Water Resilience Installation program for Puerto Rico.

A licensed electrical engineer, Efran studied at the University of Puerto Rico’s Mayagüez campus where he obtained a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering.

During the course of his professional career, he has worked in the private and government sectors as well as in academia. He served for 20 years as a lecturer in the Electrical Engineering department at the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico. He joined the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) during that time as the General Engineer Supervisor in support of the Planning and Research division. While there he was responsible of overseeing planning and research for the Transmission System division.

Efran was appointed as Deputy Advisor to the Governor in the Energy and Environment sectors in 2009 during the administration of former Governor Luis Fortuño. In 2013, he returned to his former position at PREPA and was promoted in 2015 to Director of the Planning and Research Division, where he oversaw the main areas, generation, transmission, distribution, renewables, engineering systems, rates and forecasts of the power system and was responsible for developing, planning, and supervising PREPA’s Capital Improvement Program and Necessary Maintenance Expenses. He was selected by PREPA’s governing board to be the company’s Executive Director in 2020 while continuing to serve as Member of the Board of PREPA Net, a division of PREPA that offers a full range of information technology services.
