Daughter of Tidal Basin employee Linda Maiellano and her husband Mike Maiellano, an Adjusters International retiree, 22-year-old Katie passed away in 2006 in a tragic car accident.

“It was a beautiful day, and the weather was perfect,” said Linda Maiellano. “We had 137 participants and raised $13,000 for the Katie’s Star Memorial Fund. I am so appreciative of all the players, volunteers, friends, and sponsors like Tidal Basin for making this golf event a great success.” Named after Linda and Mike’s daughter, the Katie’s Star Memorial Fund is a nonprofit that brings public awareness of the importance of organ donation and provides financial assistance to organ donors, recipients, and their families for uninsured medical expenses and travel costs.

John Agostino, Tidal Basin VP, flew from Myrtle Beach to New York to participate in the fundraiser. “I have known the Maiellano’s for years, and I am committed to helping them raise awareness on the importance of organ donation,” said John. “It’s easy to become an organ donor. Sign up when you renew your driver’s license and give the gift of life to someone else.”
