Please join us in welcoming John McEwen, PhD, GISP, to the Tidal Basin IT team as our new Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Manager!
John is a geospatial technology and data manager with nearly 17 years of professional experience. He has worked on projects in the engineering, science, and disaster management and recovery industries. Most recently, he held the position of GIS Specialist at a major consulting and engineering firm. While there he supported the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 5 with project web mapping, field data collection, data management, and cartographic products.
He has also served the Louisiana Air National Guard as an engineering assistant, the City of Baton Rouge as Senior GIS Analyst, and the U.S. Navy as an intelligence officer, in addition to supporting application development and data mapping for several emergency management projects at various engineering and construction agencies in the private sector.
